چکیده

The experiment was carried out on 20 Swiss male mice divided into experimental (E, n=10) and control (C, n=10) group. E mice were intraperitoneally injected with glucagon (15 μg/kg b.w.) twice daily for eight days, while mice C with 250 μl 0.9% NaCl/mouse (to exclude the injection effect only). In the lysosomal fraction of the liver the activities of acid phosphatase, β-N-acetyl-hexosaminidase, β-glucuronidase, β-glucosidase, lysosomal arylesterase, lysosomal lipase, leucine aminopeptidase and alanine aminopeptidase were determined. Glucagon caused an increase of activity of all studied enzymes except β-glucuronidase and β-glucosidase, where reduced activities were observed.

THE EFFECTS OF GLUCAGON, INSULIN AND S TEROID HORMONES ON PHOSPHATIDATE PHOSPHOHYDROLASE ACTIVITY IN RAT LIVERS

The effects of steroid hormones, glucagon and insulin on rat liver phosphatidate phosphohydrolase (PAP) activity were studied both in vitro and in vivo. Incubation of rat hepatocytes with each hormone showed that dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), progesterone and testosterone increase PAP activity by 44.6, 37 and 36.9%, respectively. Estradiol, however, decreased enzyme activity by 13.6% under...

Hepatoprotective Activity of Capparis spinosa Root Bark Against CCl4 Induced Hepatic Damage in Mice

Many hepatoprotective herbal preparations have been recommended in alternative systems of medicine for the treatment of hepatic disorders. No systematic study has been done on protective efficacy of Capparis spinosa (Capparidaceae) to treat hepatic diseases. Protective action of C. spinosa ethanolic root bark extract was evaluated in this study in an animal model of hepatotoxicity, which was in...

بررسی سمّیت نانوذرات نقره بر آنزیم های ALT ، AST ، ALP و تغییرات هیستوپاتولوژی کبد در موش نژاد NMRI

Background and purpose: Despite the widespread use of silver nanoparticles, there are concerns about their biological effects on the environment and human health. The aim of this study was to investigate the cytotoxic effect of Ag+ nanoparticles on liver tissue and enzyme activities in NMRI mice. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, thirty five female NMRI mice were randomly divi...

Effect of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine on Liver CYP2C19 Enzyme Activity in Isolated Perfused Rat Liver Using Omeprazole Probe

Background and purpose: This study aimed at investigating the effects of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) on liver cytochrome 2C19 enzyme activity, which is a major liver enzyme in the metabolism of a wide range of drugs, using omeprazole as a probe of the CYP2C19 activity in isolated perfused rat liver. Materials and methods: This experimental study was done in 20 male Sprague–Da...

The effect of sugar cane molasses on the immune and male reproductive systems using in vitro and in vivo methods

Objective(s): Sugar cane molasses is a commonly used ingredient in several food products. Contrasting reports suggest that molasses may have potential adverse or beneficial effects on human health. However, little evidence exists that examines the effects of molasses on the different physiological systems. This study investigated the effects of sugar cane molasses on various physiological syste...
